Football – The Perfect Storm

Billy WhizzFootball

This week sees something that I can’t remember ever happening in football before. In 1 week all of the major English and European competitions will be played. Tonight and tomorrow night we have the champions league with 4 English teams in action. For the next 3 nights there are live FA Cup 5th round replays. Thursday sees the second leg of the UEFA Cup games played last week and to top all that of Saturday and Sunday sees an almost full Premier League line up as well as Sundays Carling Cup final between Man Utd and Spurs.

Aston Villa v CSKA Moscow – It Was OK

Billy WhizzFootball

ASTON VILLA VS CSKA MOSCOW UEFA CUP
Sods law dictated that on Wednesday I ended up having to work instead, still I was determined to put myself through A whole UEFA Cup game so that I could justify my rantings. Luckily there are plenty of online sources for watching live footy so I was OK (I ended up using the live streaming service of one of the bookies, BWIN). For those of you interested in watching live football online a few of the bookmakers over live footy streams, the European Club competitions are always well covered. Anyway, bwin’s service was top notch and not really that different to watching the game on the goggle box. But enough of that, the actual game itself was also pretty good, not blood and thunder action but as far as European football goes it was up there with what you’d see in the Champions League.

Who Cares About The UEFA Cup?

Billy WhizzFootball

Did you even know that there is a round of UEFA Cup fixtures on tonight, got to admit that I didn’t! I was just looking around wondering what to do tonight, beer and football being the obvious choices on a Wednesday. I knew there was a Premier League game on tonight (Man United – Fulham) but the UEFA Cup had totally passed my by, how can that be?

England Are Getting Better

SteveORugby

It’s been a bad week for the English national team. First the cricket team is embarrassed by the West Indies. Then the football team is taught a lesson by Spain. Finally the rugby union team takes a beating by Wales today. BUT at least on the rugby front things are looking up because that best I’ve seen England play in a couple of years!

Last week against Italy they score 5 tries, win the game comfortably but it was like watching paint dry. They was nothing but criticism for Martin Johnson men, constantly conceding possession and doing anything but run with the ball. However against Wales it looked a different team (except the first 15 minutes!) The ball was still kicked away a little too often for the purist but at least the backs were attempting to break the Welsh line. England even managed to Read the rest of this entry »

Tony Adams – I’m Going Nowhere!

Billy WhizzFootball

Sorry I was a bit late with this post, I meant to put it up yesterday but figured what the hell hey, it would wait 24 hours. If you can’t trust a football manager to give an honest assessment of a situation then who can you trust?

Super League vs Six Nations

SteveORugby

It’s going to be a fine night tonight, it’s going to be a great day tomorrow! Rugby hits the headlines again tomorrow with the start of the Super League season coinciding with the start of the Six Nations Rugby Union tournament! The big question is of course what to watch?

Footballers Are Scum….

SteveOFootball

…discuss??

From my point of view I can’t get over how many (Premier League) footballers, with all the trappings that come with it still seem to be unable of keeping themselves out of trouble. What the hell is it with footballers? Is it that maybe the media concentrate on them and we don’t here about all these other sportsmen getting in fights at nightclubs? Or is it that they have genuinely become too big for their boots?

Transfer Deadline Extended – London Grinds To A Halt

Billy WhizzFootball

Well screw me sideways! Just when you thought that you’d seen it all it seems that the few inches of snow that fell overnight has not only ground the south of England to a halt, it’s also caused the transfer deadline to be extended. They’ve got to be taking the piss haven’t they?
