Is Formula 1 Heading For The Doldrums Again?

UK Sports BlogFormula 1

Much like TV killed the Radio Star, ITV killed Formula 1. Their coverage was archiac shit and the races were spoilt every single time by advert after advert. Motor racing and adverts don’t work. Nascar, Indycar are cases in point. Since the BBC took over in 2009 the popularity of Formula 1 has increased enormously, so much so that now Sky are interested, are things about to take a turn for the worse again?

Is Formula 1 Really Boring?

UK Sports BlogFormula 1

I’ve been a fan of Formula 1 since I was a small kid so I’m obviously totally biased towards it. But after yesterday’s season opener in Melbourne even I was struggling to shout about the merits of Formula 1. Is Formula 1 really a boring sport?

Formula 1 Through Rose Tinted Glasses

UK Sports BlogFormula 1

So far in the 2010 Formula 1 season we’ve had 1 really dull race, 1 brilliant race and 1 race that was very good. All in all then 2 races out of the 3 have been very watchable, yet still there are people lining up to take a shot at Formula 1 and I don’t understand why?

Bahrain Grand Prix 2010

UK Sports BlogFormula 1

So how was that for you then? As another Formula 1 season kicks off with yet another set of rules and scoring it seems that the same old problems are still very much in force. No matter how they try to disguise it whenever the powers that be try and make Formula 1 more exciting they always appear to have the opposite affect!

KERS In Formula 1

UK Sports BlogFormula 1

OK, I admit it. I didn’t have a bloody clue what was going on last weekend in Australia. Within 1 week the world of the Formula 1 fan has gone from one of expectation to that of confusion. How many appeals does it take until we actually get a result – you know, a final result?! But the thing that confused me the most was all the talk of curves, kerbs (no you muppets), the KERS system – an arcade style speed boost. Here for the average man in the street is an explanation of what KERS means to Formula 1.

Formula 1 – 2009 Season

UK Sports BlogFormula 1

Here’s the truth – I’ve tried to write this post 4 times to date and each time I’ve failed. Every time I’m happy with it something else changes, I can not remember a closed season in Formula 1 that has had so much drama. It’s funny though, because with all the talk of change, the world falling apart, we are basically left with the same teams racing for the same points and the same championship. For all the talk Formula 1 in 2009 has changed naff all.

Who Will Win The Formula 1 Drivers Championship?

UK Sports BlogFormula 1

As predicted its all come down to the last race of the season and my favourite track of them all, Interlagos in Brazil.  It’s one of those rare tracks in Formula 1 that really allows the drivers to have a chance at overtaking and as such 9 times out of 10 it’s an incident filled race.  It used to be like that when it was the opening race of the season and it hasn’t dulled any with being the last race now!  As an aside Mexico was also one of my favourites, awesome straight!
