I’m Not Going To Subsidise NewcastleBookmark and Share

UK Sports BlogFootball

Mike Ashley is a grade A Cock! He deserves a little bit of respect for acknowledging that he’s not wanted and for putting Newcastle up for sale. BUT the statement he put out yesterday shows what a dickhead the man is. Geordie fans are probably the most demanding (and deluded ) in England but the thing is you know exactly what you’re getting with them. When Ashley bought Newcastle he knew the sort of investment the fans would expect in the club, looks like all along he was never prepared to put it in. On top of that, back handed digs at the fans (that have made the club) and Kevin Keegan are nuts. His insistence that having Dennis Wise was the right thing to do is just blatant self denial. Surely he must know that if Keegan was left to manage then none of this would have happened, yet?

To come out with a word like “subsidise” in these circumstances is bollocks. He knew what he was buying, he would have/should have seen it as an investment. He was investing in Newcastle to get a return, turns out though he was investing in Newcastle to try and make himself popular and to give his little chum Wise a nice job. Unfortunately this was all at the clubs expense and the fans haven’t exactly been happy about it. The club owners that are liked are all about one thing, buying success. The Glazers at Manchester United were hated until they proved they were prepared to put in the investment to make the team winners. Assholovic at Chelsea was immediately popular as will the new owners at Man City be, unless the money dries up after a year or two. The American owners at Liverpool are a little bit more cautious with their investment which leaves the Liverpool faithful largely split, one things for sure though if they win the league this year there will be very few fans complaining. When Mike Ashley bough Newcastle it was because he wanted a new toy and mid table would be good enough, as long as it didn’t cost too much.

I’m not saying that Newcastle deserve anything better than mid table, or that any new investors will make things better but if they want to make a go out of it they are going to have to at least look like they’re prepared to put the money in to make Newcastle “better”.
