What are the odds then? Surely some smart ass must have worked out what the odds were of Liverpool playing Chelsea again in the Champions League? It’s the 5th year in a row now. At least one good thing comes from it, seeing as how the 2 other English teams made a right balls up of their first leg matches last night at least we know that one English team will be making it through to the Champions League semi-finals!
Liverpool should be strong favourites to go through from this tie, not only do they hold a better Premier League position but they also are in top form and have a better track record in Europe. This won’t stop a hoard of Chelsea fans making the trip nprth though and if Chelsea can hold on to a draw then they’ll fancy themselves to go through. Either way it should be a decent game and one well worth watching. The game is being covered live on Sky Sports in the UK tonight, being a Champions League quarter final there will be plenty of places online to watch Liverpool v Chelsea live as well!
Just for the record here’s how the previous ties ended up:-
2004-05: Chelsea 0-1 Liverpool
2005-06: Liverpool 0-0 Chelsea, Chelsea 0-0 Liverpool
2006-07: Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool (1-4 pen)
2007-08: Liverpool 3-4 Chelsea (aet)
No wonder Chelsea are nervous.
