A Few Putting Secrets

CloughGolf

This article will discuss golf instruction tips for putting.

How frequently have you been frustratingly close to sinking a putt just to come up short?

Or maybe you have only just missed the hole to view your ball go crusing past adding a rediculous amount of length for the return golf putt.

A great deal of games happen to be lost on the putting green and more often than not it has been because of the inaccurate distance, rather than the direction of the ball.

A lot of novices swiftly get a feel for the direction the ball will travel, even on sloping greens.

You’ve perhaps viewed it personally in cases where a newcomer to the golf game places the golf ball within just inches of the golf hole on a sloping green repeatedly.

What we do not witness quite so often will be the ball stopping just a few inches past the golf hole when they miss.

There are several things that will come in to account while identifying the length a ball could travel on the green, to the slope, to the preparation of the green along with whether or not this is wet and slow or dry and fast.

It can have a very big difference with respect to the time of the day with the greens getting faster as they dry off from the afternoon sunshine.

Therefore understanding the distance of a putt is without a doubt precisely what you really should focus on in order to get your ball to go in that hole.

Once more it all comes back again to practice and there is absolutely no better practice than on the day of the tournament in the conditions that you will be playing in.

You should make an effort to have a couple of practice putts just before you start play to be able to ‘dial in’ your length.

One thing you need to always remember; the golf ball will never drop if it does not reach the hole.

May seem way too apparent to even require mentioning doesn’t it, but more often than not putts will come up short.

At all times aim for the rear of the hole so that, provided you have your direction correct, you will have a chance of making the putt.

Remember the old saying: “Drive for show, putt for dough.” It is an old saying because it is true. Be sure and get good golf putting instruction so you can win all the dough.

Females Competing In BJJ And Mixed Martial Arts

CloughMMA

In 2009, Gina Carano and Chris “Cyborg” Santos became the first women to compete in the main event of a major (and televised) MMA event during the August 15th Strikeforce show in San Jose, California. Major MMA organizations, including the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Pride Fighting Championship, had been operating for 16 and 12 years respectively at the time of the Carano vs. Cyborg fight. Meanwhile, in the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu community, women such as Kyra Gracie have recently taken the grappling and MMA world by storm by not only receiving her black belt and multiple world titles, but also with her beauty and charm. It has been almost 20 years since Brazilian jiu-jitsu came to international attention.

Brazilain Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts are sports that are ruled by men. Most gyms in the United States have only a handful of women that train, especially when the gym is not located in a larger urban area. However, as jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts become more popular, thanks to fight organizations like the UFC and cable television shows featuring MMA, more women are becoming involved in the sport and understanding the benefits.

Jiu-jitsu is an art created for a smaller fighter to defend themselves against a bigger opponent. It is an art that focuses on technique, manipulating balance, and leverage, rather than strength and size. This fact alone makes jiu-jitsu a fantastic martial art for women to practice for both sport and self-defense. With good training, a woman can defeat the inequalities of size and upper body strength between men and women in a fight, especially against an untrained attacker.

In self-defense situations, jiu-jitsu and MMA are fundamentally suited to helping women get out of dangerous situations on the ground, allowing them to not only block incoming strikes, but also prevent sexual assault by moving, striking back, and submitting their opponent on the ground. Every women’s self-defense course should incorporate the ground techniques employed in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and MMA.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu St Louis and MMA can also be fantastic ways for a woman to stay in shape. These sports demand a person to gain and maintain cardiovascular endurance for rounds of fighting, static all-over body strength to hold positions and control opponents, and dynamic strength to push, pull, punch, kick, wrestle, and sweep. Many people serious about jiu-jitsu and MMA end up cross-training with additional exercises such as running, yoga, and weight-lifting.

Brazilian Jujitsu and MMA can also be great emotionally. To prevail in these sports, it takes determination, endurance, and perseverance over mental and physical failures. These sports can bring a great sense of pride and accomplishment. Additionally, the intensity of the sport creates friendships and bonds between people at the gym; many people gain a second family.

So why has it taken so long for women to start participating in these sports? And, why has it taken so much time for women to get the same respect as men in the sport? For many women, it is very frightening to walk into a male-dominated gym and try to compete. In addition, Brazilian Jujitsu and MMA are sports with very close contact both standing and on the ground. Some women are uncomfortable with close contact on the ground with men and are afraid of being in positions that could be viewed as sexual. Other women are not comfortable with striking or getting hit. However, women who have joined the sport will affirm that in most gyms, people are great teammates and are willing to help you. The sport is not sexual in nature at all, just as high-school wrestling is not sexual. Good gyms do not tolerate harassment of women.

Women still do not get the same respect as men in these sports, especially in MMA because they are perceived as not being able to keep up with with men. In some ways this is true: A woman will generally not have the same upper body strength and dynamic strength of a man of the same weight and experience and, therefore, will not generally be dominant. However, it should be remembered that every other sport is also categorized by skill and/or weight and gender. Sports change when the physical and mental state of the competitors change. Strategies need to be different, training needs to be different, and the final product ends up being different. Hopefully in the near future, people will realize that, although maybe a little different, women’s jiu-jitsu and MMA are valuable and exciting when the competitors are of high quality and training.

Liverpool Against Arsenal

adminFootball

Liverpool play Arsenal today at Anfield. It says everything when at this time in the season Liverpool need every point they can muster to gain the momentum for a push towards 4th in the Premier League. Maybe somebody should have a word with Glen Johnson (this year their year blah blah blah)?

I’d quite like to see Liverpool win this, they always seem to up their game against top teams and make no mistakes, Arsenal are a top team this season. Not only would it hold back Arsenal but it would also give all Liverpool fans another false dawn like what happened after the completely out played and beat Man Utd earlier in the season. Surely every Liverpool fan must know by now that it’s not how the play in big games that the problem, it’s how they play against the rest, when to be honest, it appears as though Gerrard and Torres just don’t seem as interested.

Anyway, for anyone stuck with for a way of watching this game you can find details of how to watch Liverpool against Arsenal live online by following the link.

Why Isn’t Ukraine vs England On TV?

adminFootball

Somebody somewhere needs a serious kick up the ass about this. It’s bad enough when they try to rape us over pay TV to watch the national team but to not show the game at all is even worse! Actually it does get worse than that because although the Ukraine vs England game isn’t available on your traditional TV it is being made available online. So if you have a PC and if you have a fast enough broadband speed then if you pay them £11.99 for this one single international game then you will have the honour of watching the English team play live.

If the internet company that bought the rights to this have to charge £11.99 to make it cost effective then quite frankly they just shouldn’t have bothered with the rights. Surely that would have caused whoever made them available to lower their asking price so that one of the traditional TV networks in the UK could have picked them up and shown the game live instead?

Anyhoo what is done is done now. I do have some good news for you though, it seems that the bookmaker Bet365 also has the rights to show the game online. So it might not be the same as watching it on your 47″ LCD in your sofa but at least if you do have to watch it online you can do it for free. All you have to do is open a Bet365 account and they’ll let you watch Ukraine v England for free.

Whilst I’m on about the world cup qualifiers (good luck to Ireland by the way) isn’t it great to see that both Portugal and Argentina might not qualify for the 2010 World Cup. Portugal for the diving cry baby that is Ronaldo and the cheating, fouling “who not me” asshole that is Carvalho, Argentina – well just for being Argentina really. If England can keep up their current form they’ll be going in as the highest scoring team from the European section and without Portugal and Argentina in the mix surely we must have a bloody good chance of seeing at least a semi final?

Why Are People Defending Eduardo?

adminFootball

I can understand why Arsenal may try to defend their player getting a 2 match ban for what is at most a yellow card offence (if caught) but why are others rushing to defend Eduardo?

“Maybe I’m Not The Most Objective” Says Wenger

adminFootball

Well no shit Sherlock. Arsene “I didn’t see it” Wenger is well known for being how shall we put this, ever so slightly one sided in his views (possibly only matched by Liverpool’s Spanish Waiter), but when he talks about the game at Old Trafford on Saturday he may actually have a couple of points.

First of all where was Wenger wrong in his opinions? For a start the penalty that Manchester United got. There was nothing “Old Trafford’ish” about that penalty. I’d love to know what percentage of penalties given away in the Premier League are of the result of keepers coming flying out with not a chance of playing the ball. Almunia on Rooney was just another one of them, clear as day and it would have been given as a penalty 99 out of 100 times. There’s also the constant moan from the Arsenal manager about the over physicality of English football. You’ve got to be joking me right? It’s become as pansified as an European league and if Arsene doesn’t like it then he knows what he should do, I’m sure there are plenty of teams in the dive happy Italian Leagues that would have him.

So what was Wenger right about? The tackle by Fletcher on Arshavin. That was as clear a penalty as you’d get, when you looked at the replay that was. The trouble is the refs don’t have video replays and I must admit that when I first saw it live it looked as if Fletcher played the ball. It was clearly not the case though and that should have definitely been a penalty. The fact that Arshavin scored a few seconds later doesn’t matter, they should have had a penalty. The other thing that Wenger was right to be angry about was his own sending off at the end of the game. Premier League refs just love to justify that “professional” wage bill and now it looks like the fourth officials are getting in on the game. The decision to send Wenger to the stands (or wherever the hell he ended up) for kicking a water bottle was a disgrace. The fourth official in this case should be suspended from duties for a month and find a months salary. If you want to make a name for yourself and get on the TV by making stupid, irrelevant decisions then there should be a penalty involved. After all they are supposed to be “professionals”.
