Well screw me sideways! Just when you thought that you’d seen it all it seems that the few inches of snow that fell overnight has not only ground the south of England to a halt, it’s also caused the transfer deadline to be extended. They’ve got to be taking the piss haven’t they?
All around Europe snow can be measured in feet (lets take Russia as an example) and yet they manage to conduct transfer business just fine. In Scotland, snow fall is a regular incurrence in the winter months and it’s never been a problem yet. Each year the north of England gets a nice dusting as well with flight delays and public transport problems and yet the transfer window has never been extended to take into the account the days that may have been “lost”.
But because London gets just enough snow to build a snowman the Premier League sees fit to extend the transfer deadline. I’m sure it has nothing to do with just how many Premier League teams are based in London right? I wonder how many deals will be rushed through now that up until half an hour ago weren’t even a possibility. And when the questions start to get asked the answer will of course be “Sure we started talks BEFORE the snow”.
